MyHIJAU Mark is a official green recognition endorsed by the government of Malaysia. It is an initiative embarked by Malaysian Green Technology Corporation (GreenTech Malaysia) to promote the sourcing and purchasing of green products and services in Malaysia. Its aim is to encourage the adoption of environmentally friendly practices in the country, while catalysing the growth of Malaysian’s green economy. Uniting green certification under one single mark In view of the many green labels on the market, MyHIJAU Mark is launched with a mission to bring together all the products and services that are already certified by varies green label scheme that meet local and international environmental standard under one single mark. Benefits of MyHijau A product or service that is recognized with MyHijau mark will has opportunity to become source for government green procurement. MyHijau directory is available and will guide the purchaser or buyer towards certified green products and approved green services. Besides, companies purchasing MyHIJAU Mark products may be eligible for Green Investment Tax Allowance (GITA). Furthermore, new green service providers registered with MyHijau Mark may be eligible for Green Income Tax Exemption (GITE). Green Procurement by Eleventh Malaysia Plan The adoption of a sustainable consumption and production concept as outlined in the 11th Malaysia Plan will forecast at least 20% of government procurement going green by 2020. The implementation of GGP at the 12 ministries and their agencies in 2016 have resulted to cumulative value of GGP amounting RM482Million. Below are the top 5 GGP implementing agencies: 1) Ministry of Defense (MinDef) 2) Ministry of Health (MoH) 3) Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA) 4) Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKLW) 5) Ministry of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government (KPKT) Product groups In 2017, GGP implementation has been expanded to all government agencies with requirement for each ministry to incorporate green specification in the procurement of GGP product groups. Twenty (20) product groups and services that will be given priority for government green procurement are as follows: 1) ICT equipment; 2) Paints/Coating; 3) Fiber Cement; 4) Energy efficiency (EE) Indoor Lighting; 5) Paper; 6) Textiles; 7) Furniture; 8) Multipurpose Printing Device; 9) Air-Conditioning System; 10) Biodegradable Polymer based Packaging Materials; 11) Water Efficiency Apparatus; 12) Rainwater Harvesting; 13) Stationeries (Paper based products); 14) Rubber based Products; 15) Cleaning Services; 16) Green Data Centre Services; 17) Building Facilities Management System; 18) Automotive Workshop Services; 19) Printing Services; and 20) Hotel, Accommodation and Training Centre. Only products accredited by these verification bodies are eligible to register for the MyHIJAU Mark and be listed on the MyHIJAU Directory.
